You may purchase or download our Application through third parties, such as the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play, so we do not obtain your personal information through the sale of our Application. You should review and understand the third party Privacy Policy before you purchase or download our Application through them.

Our Application contains software regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a medical device. Specifically, the software associated with reading a temperature using the Kinsa Smart Thermometer is regulated by the FDA. The Kinsa Smart Thermometer is intended to measure the human body temperature orally, rectally, or under the arm, and the thermometers are reusable for clinical or home use on individuals of all ages. Kinsa allows you to record information about your symptoms and common illnesses. Once you have transferred this information to your account through our Site or Application, the use and disclosure of this information is governed by applicable state and federal regulations.

Information We Collect

In operating our Site and Application, we may collect and process the following information about you
i. Details of your visits to our Site and the resources that you access, including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, including your IP address, the date and time you accessed or left the Site and which pages you viewed. ii. Information that you provide directly to us by filling in forms on our Site or Application (for example, to contact us, you must provide your name and e-mail address).
iii. Information about your common illnesses provided to us when you utilize the Kinsa Smart Thermometer, any of Kinsa’s applications (available through the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play) or enter information relating to your temperature, symptoms, diagnosis, time of incidence of the illness or symptoms, or treatment seeking behavior into our Site or Application. We may also collect information regarding the relationships you have with people and/or locations.
iv. Personal information such as e-mail address, birthdate, gender, username or device ID, and password if you sign up to use our Site or our Application.
v. Personal information such as birthdate, gender, or profile name if you create a user profile within the Application or Site.
vi. Geolocation information if you permit our Application to access this information through your device.
vii. Information you provide to us if you sign up to be part of a group on our Site or Application, such as your child’s school.
viii. Information you provide when you post messages through your account via our Site or Application.
ix. Information provided to us when you communicate with us for any reason.

All information you submit to us is de-identified before it is sent to or shared with other users through our Application. However, if you would like to share your or your child’s information with someone you know, such as your child’s babysitter or your spouse, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a feature that will identify your information to send it to the user chosen by you.

Use of Your Information

The information that we collect and store relating to you is primarily used to enable us to provide our Site and Application to you in the best possible manner. In addition, we may use the information to provide you with additional information relating to our Site or Application or to monitor and conduct an analysis of our Site and Application traffic and usage.

We also merge other sources and other anonymous and aggregate demographic data with data we collect from you to derive mathematically modelled aggregate data (“Kinsa, Inc. Aggregate Data”), which is used to get a real-time understanding of and predict the prevalence of the spread of illnesses within a specific geographic area. NO PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION IS INCLUDED IN THIS DATA WHEN IT IS SHARED.

How We Use Cookies

A “cookie” is a piece of text which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, this cookie file is stored on the hard drive of your computer. They help us and our affiliates to improve our Site and Application. They ensure that the content from our Site and Application is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer.

All computers have the ability to decline cookies. This can be done by activating the setting on your browser which enables you to decline the cookies. Please note that should you choose to decline cookies, you may be unable to access particular parts of our Site or Application.
