Early Social Distancing Measures Reduce the Spread of Illness in New York City

New York City was one of the first major counties to enact aggressive social distancing measures in order to combat the spread of COVID-19. You can see in the infographic how these early and aggressive measures helped to flatten the curve of atypical illness. As of March 30 we have seen illness levels in the city drop to normal levels for this time of year, and we are seeing similar trends across the entire country. This does not mean that COVID-19 cases are declining. In fact, we expect to see reported cases continue to surge in the near term, but this data indicates these measures are starting to slow the spread.
